I first want to say that by no stretch of the imagination am I an expert on parenting. I am, however, an expert on parenting Hannabert (my son, born February 2011). I hope that my experiences help others believe in their own expertise in parenting their children their way.
I have been married since 2009. I am an avid reader (an electronic reader makes pumping a little bit more enjoyable); enjoy cooking (especially using fresh finds from my CSA (community supported agriculture) basket); love to travel (Great Smoky Mountains is one of our favorite get-aways); and try to maintain a garden in my limited free time.
My schooling, I am an attorney who is licensed to practice in the State of Ohio. By employment, I am a director of a paralegal studies program by day (recently approved by the American Bar Association) and a legal researcher by night.
About Hannah
My name is Hannah Barnhorn and I am a mother to one child, born February 2011. I work full-time (second shift as a legal researcher) and part-time (first shift as a director of a paralegal studies program). I pump anywhere from 4 times to more depending on my day and how many jobs I am working. I think that breast milk is a wonderful gift that a mother can give a child.
I had a very difficult time with my epidural which resulted in a near death experience for me (the little guy was a champion and his stats never dipped at all) and ended up having to have a c-section under general for unrelated reasons. My son's blood sugar dramatically dropped after birth and he was rushed to NICU while I recovered. We were initially separated for almost 9 hours and then he spent an additional 4 days in NICU. Needless to say, breastfeeding has been a challenge and I have suffered from low supply but it is completely worth it to me to see how much he loves that special time he spends with me.
