I have previously promised to share two soap recipes with some of my friends on Facebook. THIS IS FOR YOU, DOLORES AND DEB! 🙂

Now, beware, this is rather complicated….you may want to take notes. 🙂

Ingredients:

1 cup of Dr. Bronner’s Liquid Castile Soap – any scent, find one you like!

1 cup of Water

1 teaspoon of lemon juice

Put all 3 into a container you can use to hold the fluid and mix well. Be sure to mix it well (SHAKE IT UP!) before each use.

When you run the dishwasher, put 1 Tablespoon of the soap into the “open” soap dispenser in your machine. Then, step 2 (and this is really an important step) either 1) when the closed cup pops open for the main wash or when your dishes are in the rinse stage (towards the end) add 1 cup of white vinegar. You can either fll the closed cup or you can just open the machine and add it in.  I’ve gotten to where I can time my machine pretty perfectly & know exactly when to add the vinegar in for the “rinsing” portion (not the wash).

Voila, you have an amazing non toxic, very reasonably priced (CHEAP!) automatic dishwasher detergent. oh, and, as a little side note, you can use it to wash dishes by hand too. 🙂 it really is completely harmless and non-irritating.

it is very important to note, do not add the Dr. Bronner’s and the vinegar at the same time….They work fantastic as a 2 step process, but if you mix them, they react & cancel each other.
